San Bernardino National Forest

The wild lands of the San Bernardino National Forest were designated a National Forest more than one hundred years ago. Originally, the forest was home to Native Americans. The National Forest serves as southern California's outdoor year-around recreation destination, as well as providing valuable watershed protection.  It has 679,380 National Forest acreage.  There are 71 threatened, endangered, and sensitive animal species and 616 prehistoric archaeological sites. Elevations range from 4,200 to over 10,000 feet
